You Were Not Ready For Me - Amy Rose oneshot

** This story is told entirely in third-person PoV **


Dr. Eggman was about to launch the next part of his evil plan. While an army of his robots kept Sonic's team busy, he would sneak off and locate the Chaos Emeralds, which were all scattered around the city. He knew that the three of them loved to destroy his robots and that they would serve a worthwhile distraction. By the time all his robots were destroyed, he would have the seven Emeralds in his latest superweapon and would use them to finally destroy Sonic and his friends and take over the world. Unfortunately for him, Sonic's team had a fourth fighter with them this time. While the three guys defended the city as the heroes they were, she had silently broken off from them, wanting to show Eggman himself who was boss. Hopefully, they wouldn't miss her.

Not seeing Eggman anywhere in the waves of attacks, she had headed outside the city, searching around for anything suspicious. After a few minutes of searching, she tripped over something. Something shiny. It was one of the seven Chaos Emeralds, and she now realized what Eggman was up to. She pocketed the Emerald, and immediately started running back towards the city to warn Sonic. However, as she started to pick up speed, she noticed something ahead in the distance, what looked like three robots. She decided that she would destroy the robots before heading back to Sonic.

Eggman, watching his plan in action from a fair distance away, was about to begin his search. He had two robots with him to guard him, just in case. As well, he had a number of other robots searching for the Emeralds.

"Hohoho! With Sonic busy defending the city from my evil robot minions, he won't have time to stop me from gathering the Chaos Emera- WHAT THE (sees blur heading straight towards him in his mech)? How could he have dealt with my minions so quickly? Wait a second! That blur... it's pink! Destroy it!"

Eggman and his two guard robots fired at the approaching blur, but Amy was too fast.

** Flashback **

After Eggman's last defeat, Amy had asked Sonic to train her to be faster and more agile like him so she could be more involved in the action next time. She was already a good fighter with her hammer, but Sonic and his team were always worried that she was too vulnerable to fight Eggman. While he was worried now that she would use such skills to return to her previous ways, catch him, and drag him on a date, he agreed, knowing that such training would be nothing but good for her. So, with the help of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, Amy's speed and agility improved markedly to the point where she rivalled even Sonic himself. Not only that, though, but her strength had also improved to the point where she was swinging her largest hammers as if they were just sticks.

"Hey, Amy! I'm having a hard time keeping up with you! Slow down, will ya?" Sonic said jokingly to Amy as they completed the obstacle course they had set up for their training.

"What's wrong, Sonic? I thought you were the fastest thing alive." Amy replied, also jokingly. "We're both hedgehogs, ya know. It makes sense that we'd be neck in neck!"

"Good point, Amy." Sonic replied. After that, both of them just started laughing. This continued for several seconds. Amy then approached Sonic and gave him a hug. It was not one of her death hugs that she used to give, but a more friendly, affectionate hug. She still had a crush on him, but she had reflected on her past life, and when she had turned 13 she promised to put her obsession behind her, knowing that it was actually putting herself further away from Sonic, rather than closer. Since then, Sonic had started to like her more, and by now he was actually considering having a date with her for real. But for now, for him, it was just a friendly hug. He hugged her back.

"Thanks for training me. You guys are the best!" Amy said happily.

"You're welcome!" Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles said together. "Anything to help one of my friends!" Sonic continued. While Amy didn't like the word "friend", she was content as she knew they would still be more than friends when the time came.

"I promise I'll return the favour one day!" Amy exclaimed.

They trained for a few more days, until Eggman resurfaced. It was then time for them to go into action.

** End Flashback **

As Amy got closer, she realized that one of the robots was actually Eggman's mech, and she was ready.

Amy was just too quick for Eggman. Having to deal with two fast hedgehogs was twice the headache for him as just one. She jumped into and out of her ball form, darting left and right to avoid his fire. Eggman and his robots continued to fire at the pink hedgehog, but it was too late. She launched herself into the air, sending herself into a trajectory right over Eggman and his robots. As she flew through the air like a bullet, the robots lined up their guns to intercept her with their own bullets. Unfortunately for them, she had mastered another ability while training with Sonic.

Her path immediately changed, sending her towards a direct impact with one of the guard robots - a homing attack! With the speed she was going at, there was no time for the robots or Eggman to adjust their aim - she collided with the first guard robot and it immediately exploded, sending debris flying everywhere and Amy back into the air, towards the other guard robot. As she flew over the other guard robot, it attempted to take aim, again, but by the time it could line up its guns, something heavy impacted the robot in the head, causing it to collapse on the ground, destroyed.

Amy had summoned her hammer and threw it at the robot while it was busy trying to get a lock on her. Eggman, now deprived of his two guard robots, turned towards the location where the second was destroyed, and saw Amy land behind the wrecked robot. With no line of fire, Eggman's first reaction was to sidestep in his mech so that he could then take her out. He stepped to the left, and he didn't like what he saw. Amy had just charged up a spin dash, which she had mastered only a week before Eggman's attack, and by the time he saw her, it was too late. He fired away, but it was all in vain. In a fraction of a second she reached the mech, jumped up (still in a ball), and impacted its underside. Hard.

Eggman's damaged mech flew through the air and landed on its backside, with Eggman dazed from the impact. He tried to recover by getting the mech back upright, but by the time he got back up, she was already in his face again.

The only thing the doctor could say at this time was "Aaahhhhh!"

She summoned another hammer and smashed the mech at high speed as it was getting back up, straight at the cockpit where Eggman was sitting. While the glass was tough, it wasn't tough enough for this, especially after the previous impact. The glass shattered and the mech fell back over. This time, though, it did not get back up, as its driver was out cold.

With the extra momentum she had, Amy didn't just smash straight through the glass, but also into Eggman's head. The impact was not hard enough to kill him, but hard enough to knock him out. The final position was Eggman lying on his back in his chair (as the mech itself was on its back), with Amy on top, holding onto Eggman's restraint and subsequently removing the latch. She then dragged him out of the crippled mech and laid him on the ground.

"Nice try, Eggman!" Amy exclaimed. She then used her strength to pick up Eggman's unconscious body. As the attacking waves of robots were coming mostly from one direction in order to make sure the three guys were kept busy, Amy chose to enter the city away from the action. She immediately proceeded to the police station, where the amazed officers there put cuffs on both his wrists and ankles, and threw him into a cell. Eggman regained consciousness, only to see himself behind bars with Amy standing on the other side.

"This is for all those times you've captured me in the past!" exclaimed Amy, pointing her finger at Eggman. She then left the police station, hopped up onto the roof, and waited there in case a robot came to bust him out. Fortunately for her, the robots were all involved in the battle with the three guys, and none showed up at her location.

A couple of officers had went out to tell Sonic and his friends the good news, but they couldn't get close enough without the remaining robots firing at them. So, they waited until all the robots have been disposed of. This took several hours as he had really send a ton of robots.

With the last of Eggman's robots disposed of, the trio regrouped.

"Yes!" Sonic exclaimed.

"It would have been better if Eggman himself showed up." Knuckles said.

"Wait a second; Knuckles actually has a good point." Tails said, somewhat surprised. "Isn't Eggman usually right in our faces when he fights against us?" he asked. "You don't think... this could have all been a diversion. Oh no!"

Considering how long they were fighting for, they were extremely worried that Eggman's plan may have actually succeeded.

As well, they noticed that Amy wasn't anywhere to be found, nor has she been for the past few hours. This got them even more worried.

"You don't think he grabbed Amy and ran off with her?" Sonic feared.

Fortunately, a few seconds later, they noticed a police officer from the city running towards them. "Good news! We have captured Dr. Eggman! Come to the police station right now!" The trio were much less worried now, heading towards the police station, leaving the officer behind.

"How could the police have captured Doctor Eggman? You don't think it was... nah!" Sonic wondered, thinking about whether it might have been Amy Rose who was responsible (due to the training she had received), but he decided it was much more likely that GUN was one step ahead of him this time around and that they turned him in. However, GUN was nowhere to be seen for the entire fight, making him a bit skeptical about that theory, too.

When they reached the station, they walked up to Eggman's cell. "It looks like it's game over, Eggman." Sonic taunted. They then heard footsteps behind them, and when they turned around, they saw none other than Amy Rose.

"Did you do this, Amy?" Sonic asked. She simply nodded. Sonic smiled and ran up to her, and they hugged for a good long while.

After this, Amy told them her story, about how she wasn't content with just fighting robots and wanting to fight Eggman himself, then discovering a chaos emerald outside the city and figuring out his plan, then running into and subsequently defeating Eggman. "He totally wasn't ready for me!" Amy exclaimed, as they all just started laughing.

In a way, it was true. If one of the guys had split off to look for Eggman, the attacking robots would have noticed the MIA and some of them would have split off to look for their master and warn him, allowing him to escape. However, Eggman had naively considered just those three to be his opponents, and did not consider Amy at all. Of course, she got lucky enough to run into him, too.

"This was our plan all along!" Tails joked, referring to the training they put Amy through.

Sonic then decided to ask Amy "Hey, Amy? Tomorrow, do you want to go with me on a- a- a date?" He finally mustered up the courage to ask her out. Of course, he was blushing a bit.

"Of course!" Amy yelled out in response, hugging Sonic again. "Hey, Sonic. Remember how I said I'd return the favour for the training you guys gave me? I've got a special place in mind."

As for the rest of the Emeralds, some of Eggman's other robots found a few of them, but Amy had one secured, and without all seven they could not power the superweapon. This time, Sonic took over making sure nobody tried to bust Eggman out, while the rest of them scoured the area around the city, found a few of the Emeralds, and eliminated any robots they spotted. GUN eventually arrived to clean up the remaining robots, and all seven emeralds were secured by the good guys.

As for Eggman, he was moved to a maximum security prison, where he was kept for life.

As for Sonic and Amy, the next day they went to the beach. Amy had put on her swimsuit while also bringing the water wings for Sonic. While Amy had learned how to swim a while ago, Sonic was still a poor swimmer. Therefore, Amy was returning the favour for the training by helping him learn to swim. Sonic was reluctant at first, but he agreed after Amy promised that he would be safe. By the end of the day, Sonic was swimming just fine without the water wings, and he wasn't as afraid of the water as before. As they sat down, hugging each other, watching the sunset together, Sonic did something he never thought he would ever do: He turned his head and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Amy, surprised yet elated, had her mouth wide open, with her hand covering it, whilst blushing, and looking into Sonic's eyes.

"Oh- oh my gosh!" Amy cried out softly.

"Amy Rose." Sonic said. He then hesitated for a couple seconds before delivering his next line: "I love you."

Amy just smiled. They then kissed each other on the lips. "I love you, too" Amy replied. After this, they simply watched the sunset together. And from then on they lived happily ever after.
